I might be wrong (it has been known) but if you just send them back under the Distance Regs, you might be liable for postage.
If you send them back as they are faulty then the other party should pay the postage. (As I said - I might be wrong, but you never know...)

It's certainly true that a car dealer is liable for the transport costs associated with the return of a distance-sold vehicle that is subsequently rejected.

Once you've sorted the original issue and got them gone, I would reconsider your priorities on the choice of wheel/tyre. Rather than put budget tyres on flash alloys, I'd be very tempted to save a bit on the wheels and spend more on the rubber that's going to keep you on the road.

I wouldn’t cloud the issue, just go straight for the 14day distance selling rules. There’s no argument then about merchantable quality and there’s no requirement to allow the seller to put things right. The 14 day rule is a slam dunk with no wriggle room for the seller. This is assuming that the OP is still within the 14day window.

Yes that’s the way to go, but there was mention of reason for the rejection being required to negate the liability of the £100 return postage.
Merely rejecting them for no reason incurs a large cost as I read it.

In the event of a simple "not wanted" return the postage costs to the buyer isnt automatic. The vendor still pays unless the contract of sale stipulates otherwise.

I looked on some tyre reviews and they scored 10/10 for being the correct colour.

Apart from the fact that the rubber that makes up car tyres is white, until other stuff is added to make them black. So maybe they are all the wrong colour

Well, thanks for the advice and a butt spanking. I needed that to get myself into gear and get it sorted.

Alloys have been sent back after much debate . Took a while to get sorted, but they are finally away. Just have to wait for my refund now. I would never have been happy with the wheels and would have had doubts with them.

Its a shame as just got the van back from the bodyshop after getting paintwork done and a few extras fitted. The only thing that let's it down are the wheels. Will be taking my time and sourcing local.
Will post a few pics when the weather is better.

I got a fab set of Bridgestone Potenza Sport 255/40/20 101 for very good money this week on one of the global tyre sites (not the site in the picture). I always try my local guy first but he's happy to charge for fitting and balancing as I always drop just the wheels and tyres to him and collect later in the day. There's 4 cars in the house so he does ok out of me. There's such a massive difference in quality compared to a much smaller difference in price. The most popular brand in 255/35/20 103 (which would actually be the perfect size but only come in budget) came 43rd out of 43 in a major tyre test and even at that they were well behind 42nd place. These Bridgestones came 1st place. The difference in price was just about the price of one tyre. The physical size of the tyre also differs from brand to brand, these ones are among the lowest profile, which I like.
