My caravelle boot lock rod has come out and i cant get it to stay in ?

Hi, everyone. I'm hoping you can help me out here. I can't seem to find a diagram or anything to show me how to put the rod back in. I figured out the best way it fits but seems to jump out when using the lock. I would love an image to show what it should look like. Many thanks

Hi. Please see my post #11 in this thread;

Hope of some help.

Thanks for your reply . Yes that's the bit but I want to see the other end of the rod and how
it remains attached in the little socket. Shall I glue it? Really appreciate your help on this. I am a lady senior and very much a novice.

You’re very welcome.
I’m a senior too; 70 next week.
The forum has been very helpful to me for various issues.
I’ll remove the hardboard panel again and try to work out how it stays in. Mine’s definitely not glued in though.

Hi @batfink . I lowered the hardboard panel from the bottom and took various pics.
The one attached seems most relevant.

From the near side mine looks as though the wire couldn’t come out/apart without dismantling stuff?

I’m wondering whether the top part of the white plastic tube that I’ve circled in red may be missing on yours? (broken off?)

If yes, then maybe a cable tie pulled tight around the wire and tube might hold them together?

I tested mine by making it lock and unlock. The bent over end of the wire slides along the slot in the plastic tube as solenoid actuates.

I think gluing it together could cause shock damage as the solenoid snaps the wire up and down?

I doubt the one part of the tube would be available on its own.

Sorry I haven’t found an easy answer.

Andy, thanks so much you really are a star. The bit you have circled i think is fine. The rod fit back in and has stayed it's the other end of the rod that is the issue. It's difficult to get a decent photo but this is Screenshot_20260130_134033_Gallery.webp good as it gets. I understand if your over this. I'm getting there.

I did it Andy. Chuffed. It was the wee socket at the bottom, it was there but was slightly damaged, fixed it with some milliput until I find this tiny part. Thanks for your help and support. This has been great! Not being a one wo/man army.
