Mileage reset micro switch, fubar?

Hey, I’ve been trying to reset the trip mileage but the micro switch doesn’t seem to be working, boooooo

Do I have to take it to VW to fix it or can I do something to fix it on my driveway?

I’m pushing the mileage reset button on the dash but it’s not resetting the trip computer back to zero, I’ve tried pushing it momentarily and a long press and neither works. When I do press the switch it feels wonky and I can hear a spring making a compression type noise, but it sounds like the spring coils are grinding against each other? Doesn’t sound right.

I’ve also looked at vehicle settings on the radio and holding in the ok button on the steering wheel but no success so far

Yes, you need to press and hold for 2-4 seconds for it to register.

Disconnecting your starter battery will reset trip counter.

the button is still very rickety but I played with it for a few minutes and with two fingers gently pushing the button up and sideways, it successfully reset the trip counter.
