Mechatronics repair DQ500

Hi all, I have bought a T5.1 caravelle with a faulty auto gearbox. It is a 7 speed DQ500 and I am getting fault code 10793 - Transmission input speed (G182)
P0716 - Implausible signal.

The gearbox is in limp mode and will only select reverse and even number gears

I sent the mechatronics to ECU testing but they do not have the software to test it.

Another company said to change the speed sensor but I would have expected the garage it went to already to have done that

Anyone had this fault or has a DQ500 mechatronics repaired?

Did you ever resolve this issue?

I have a 2011 4motion caravelle dq500. I had a similar issue... whenever you floored it for kickdown the GB went into limp mode. I could only get odd gears. Switch it off and on again the fault cleared. I took it to VW, they said the was the GB, I told them I wanted proof, (as the Mechatronics unit was still under warrenty I was hoping it was that) they did change the mech again instead of the GB. The fault cleared, but it does still happen now and again. Some guy on a FB forum had similar issue and it was bad solder in the mech unit from speed sensors

I have not had time to look at it yet, I have been looking on line for others with the same issue but had no luck. My next step is to replace the mechtronics. I will check the solder joints now you have said that. I did think about changing the speed sensor first but all the ECU companies say P0716 is a mechatronics failure.

Who was your mechatronics under warranty with?
 
My warrenty was with TPS they said I had to go to a vw approved repairer so I just took it to VW. How did you get on?
 
I have given up, I bought the van to take the auto running gear and put it into my manual van. I am now breaking the Caravelle to get my money back.

Hi Phill,

I have got a T5.1 with the exact same fault code. Been told the Mechatronic needs replaying by V-Dub Freo. I have now booked it in with the Eurotech Autohaus in Bayswater (Perth WA) they told me it might be repairable over the phone but they need to do there own diagnostics first..

What was the cause of your faults, what did they do?

Hi @scooby1987 I broke the van but kept the running gear incase a mechatronics pops up. No haldex faults, only those I mention in my first post
 
No worries, I still haven't got to the bottom on mine!I am pretty sure the G182 speed/temp sensor can be purchased separately for a couple £100. Always worth a punt. Mines comes up at P276600 input speed sensor 2 implausible.
 
Might be worth checking other forums that also use the DQ500 trans. Eg Audi Q3 forum. I had a Q3 before my Transporter and recall quite a bit of discussion on the DQ500 there.

I have a DQ500 mechatronics that was running fine, just it chewed the driveshaft up and I slapped a T6 california 4mo into it.

The mechatronic unit passed 120k, but as said it shifted faultlessly, which is why I kept the gearbox, T5.1 DSG, I have the clutch also still fitted, let me know if it's any help..?

How much are you after for it? My T5 is having never ending gearbox issues and I’d like to try another.
 
I've got a T5.1 Transporter Shuttle with DQ500, 155K miles, 2013, 180 bi turbo engine replaced at 75K, now having GB issues - now keeps dropping out of gear but slip into neutral, restart engine and it clears and is OK for a bit. Garage says is low pressure due to mech pump and needs replacement GB. Can I just replace the pump or has it got to be a full box?

I am not sure to be honest, the pump will be inside the box so difficult to access.
