Mass Airflow Fault P0101 VAG-04795

Hi all,
On my 2015 T6 Kombi, I've recently run into this fault.

As I was driving on Wednesday, the engine management light came on.
Using a Carista, it reported both a P0101 and 04795.

On Thursday. Given the vehicle is from 2015, I quickly replaced the Mass Airflow sensor.
It had a Bosch sensor from factory, so I fitted a new Bosch sensor (BOS0281002956)

Reset the faults, and everything seemed okay when driving.

Driving on Sunday, it was only a short trip.
Joined a Motorway and hit up to 60 and above. The entire vehicle immediately went sluggish.
Final miles down a country road, it was remaining sluggish.

Did a good visual check, everything was tight and connected.
Reset the faults, and it seemed to drive better home.
On reaching home, the faults had fired off again.

Yesterday, I've swapped out the air filter too.
Drove it down the motorway. Absolutely normal performance.
However, on getting back from a test. The faults were sitting there again.

The slight mystery, is that the faults will register on the OBD but no engine management light will come on.

What's best to be checking next?

Check your intercooler and all associated pipes- it's not uncommon for these to fail at that age and when the boost pressure is reduced to a point where it drops below expected parameters the ECU could throw it into limp mode. Look for oily damp patches on the intercooler.

Thanks Dave!

I've had the van smoke tested today, and the intercooler is at fault.
Ordered a new unit, and I'll start to prep to fit.

Seems quite simply to replace the unit, the main challenge from videos / reference online seems to be dropping the bumper.
