Mapping.

Hi All, need to ask the question, I have a TSI T6 2.0l, I’ve only just bought it and it’s got some performance Mapping added, stage 1 I believe, I’m not interested in racing it and would like better fuel economy, would you advise to map back to factory and replace air filter with stock type too. I’m wheel spinning on hill starts and in 2nd gear it’s driving me mad.
Thoughts would be appreciated regarding the mapping not my driving😂🫣

Im assuming it was a 150 as standard ?
The thing with the TSI is they map really well from standard and make a significant power gain on stage 1 so reverting will remove loads of power
Im sure a standard 150 goes up to around 250-300 range with just the stage 1 map !

Extra fuel is used in order to achieve higher power, but the amount of power produced, therefore fuel used, is regulated by a potentiometer.

If the lack of traction on hill starts is not a result of the way the potentiometer is regulated, it could be down to less than suitable tyres.

Out of interest, what mpg are you getting as it is now. I too have a tsi ( and love it), but was considering getting it mapped for a bit more power. Currently I am getting around 26 local, and mid 30’s on a good run so don’t want to reduce these numbers which I’m happy with. Cheers

There are maps, and there are maps. There are as many crap ones as there are decent ones, and even if it's a decent one its clearly been chosen with the previous owners preferences in mind.

If youre not getting on with it then reverting is fine.

Just about 25 no more, like I say, it’s been set up for performance which is wow by the way, but not what I’m after. I’ll update next week I’m have a factory tune out back on with normal air box. 🤞

I’ve actually changed the hill assist for that and at the moment it’s better, the clutch is really hard and the bite point is high than my other vehicle. Thx 👍

Thx Pauly, mine on log book says 110 kw, also manual which is also nice. We will have to see.

By the way off topic, drivers side on climate always blows hot, passenger is perfect, air con is the same too, Carly fault says below can anyone advise.

Thanks, I could live with 25 with a bit more umph ! I’ve been pondering for a while but didn’t want to waste time and money on something that was going to drop too much from my standard 26ish. Also if I do go for a map, I think I’ll have a drive to Chesterfield to see Davtec ( he seems to be the man according to many on here ).
