That's a good effort - Cheap, simple and effective is definitely the way. I'm barely getting set up with my first van so bought an awning (canopy) but don't have a rail yet so had considered similar with mine. Nice to see it works. Nice use of Lidl bits also.

If you ever get a rail and a canopy or awning fitted for your side door you could do a tailgate canopy with this set up also I suppose - inspiring.
