LWB parking at Gatwick

Has anyone had experience/recommendations for parking a LWB at Gatwick? A lot of the parking companies now seem to have a size restriction and the notes on Gatwick’s ‘official’ parking site is that the parking spaces are 4.8m long so a LWB would overhang by about 50cm.

Blimey I’m glad you asked this. Last week I booked my LWB into Gatwick Maple for parking in June. Just double checked & you’re quite right, it does say 4.8m long & standard vehicle (not commercial) in the small print.

I’ll call them in a bit & let you know what they say..

Spoken to Maple Parking and the guy is happy they will accept a LWB Transporter so long as it’s less than 2.1m in height for the barriers. If any longer than 5.3m in length, a 50% surcharge will be required.

Good to know you’re sorted. We were thinking of just using the ‘official’ parking so hopefully someone will let me know about that.

Just tried to book long stay parking at Gatwick and the website specifically states VW Transporter, VW Caravelle and VW Caddy are not allowed along with some Mercedes Vans. If you are caught then you are fined £25 per day.
All the operators seem to have changed to rules around Gatwick.

I had no problem two weeks ago at Maple Parking (Gatwick North, next to Sofitel Hotel). No extra charges or anything.

Just a bit of an update. The Gatwick Long Stay car parks have a number of VW Transporters in the car park. Also there are many Range Rovers and cars a lot longer than 4.8m in the car park.
