Am I mad looking at a 2018 lwb Caravelle tsi with 97k on

122,000 miles and counting
Am I mad looking at a good spec 2018 lwb Caravelle 150 tsi dsg with 97k on as I only do around 6k a year.
- I am guessing from what I read 24ish mpg if I am lucky.
- Has anyone got experience and what’s likely to go wrong after 100k please
- What price do tsi caravelle’s go for at these miles.

Any help/advice would be gratefully received 👍

I went to VW to buy a TSi and missed the boat. Told they were crap and didn’t make them any more. Total BS at the time.
Should have stuck to me guns!

We’re at 134000 in our TSI and touch all the wood in the world we’re going strong!

Im twitchy about timing chains it might do some preventative work to sleep better at night. Regular oil changes seems to be the thing. Van had them every 10k on the dot.

We purchased at 127500 last April. Just ticked over 134000. Expecting 10000 a year and the van replaced our daily.

We get 27mpg on a good run. 24 normal/mixed.

Revo stage 1. DSG drivability map. Forge induction kit. Milltek resonated exhaust.

If was in the market again I'd have gone for a TSI at that mileage or above - as said above they are a rare beast and in Caravelle spec likely even more so. I met a guy who managed to find a TSI DSG 204ps panel van (tailgate) with super low miles a couple of years ago - with hardly any mods it sounded incredible, basically a Golf R in van form, the perfect sleeper van! I would certainly expect to pay a premium on top of a diesel equivalent at similar mileage - provided it's been looked after.

I bought my lwb tsi manual 18 months ago as a highline panel van, converted it myself and we did a 8 week tour of Europe last July/august/September averaging 28-29 mpg over 8000 miles of mountain roads and autobahns and everything in between … never missed a beat only fluid to top up was screen wash…
Absolutely go for it… they can be mapped to 300 ;) as is mine…
They are a rare beast in petrol 👍
