First thing to do is check fuses. (Lower dash sc fuse box)

Download section has a collection of fuse layouts.

Make sure all fuses are in correct slot.

It can be easy to put one in wrong slot.

Also once fuses confirmed.

Try ECU reset...

Just to clarify...

What is now NOT working?

Engine cutting out may be due to no coms with dash clocks as they are part of the immobiliser system.

No lights on dash apart from high beam
No fan/indicators/windows/headlights/

Last time we say this it was a blown fuse . . . AND a fuse in the wrong slot....

Can you take some closeup pics of the sc fuse box.?

Top left 5 Amps - Dash panel insert. Is a candidate for no comms.

had a auto electrician out he has gone through every fuse and relay and all are good,
loads of faults thrown up from ecu ecm and other modules but he could not clear the faults with his diagnostic computer. Is a VAG COM/VCDS the only way to clear fault codes

Actually any tool clears the faults, more sounds that there are faults that just come immediately back as the root cause still exists. I don't think VCDS could do any better. Did you get a listing of the persistent faults/codes?

No I didn’t most were communication codes starting with a U. Think it needs a VW specialist? Anyone know of a good one around North London??
