LiFePO4 battery issues

Hi all ... for some reason (as yet unknown) during the last cold spell my LiFePO4 battery drained and I have been unable to recharge it either in the vehicle or on a charger. So I went out and bought an equivalent standard sealed battery to replace it (due to funds at the time). This now seems to charge at around 14.9-15.0v, and the solar panel control unit (I have a 180w solar panel) indicates over charging as I thing the indicator light is flashing more rapidly than I think it should.

1: Do I need to replace the sealed battery with another LiFePO4 battery?

In addition, both leisure and vehicle batteries also now drain slowly and the 230v socket running of the 800w inverter does not work.

2: I assume I need to get a vehicle electrician in to srt?

Thanks in advance,

Dave

You need to change the charge profiles from lithium over to SLA/AGM.

But it seems you may have wider things Going on...

Best get a local caravan place to take a look.

Great thanks ... never thought of that - I thought the switchover would be automotic/intelligent

Spoke with my local caravan dealer this morning and they have put me on to a local guy they use.

Thanks for getting back to me

Glad you've got somewhere to take it to be looked at.

Unfortunately the charges are not that intelligent, you need to set the charge profile when you're solar charge controller electric hookup charger etc etc etc to either sealed lead acid or lithium.

If your LiFePo fully drained the BMS may have shut down. You then get into a situation where the charger is waiting to sense voltage at the battery terminal before supply voltage to charge, and the BMS is waiting to sense voltage at the battery terminals before reconnecting...

Check the manuals for your chargers as many have a "wake up" function that will override the normal behaviour and supply voltage to the battery in this situation. Or if you are having folks look at things for you get them to check your older battery over and see if it's in that situation.
