Hi All,

Very quick question my van has retrofit LED headlights from Transporter HQ. They programmed them in when they were fitted. My van currently has a broken one and I wondered if I can just fit the original head light units back in without having to do anything with the VCDS system?

Many thanks in advance.

It did.
Which original lights are you putting back in ?
H4's or H7's

If H4's, you may need to code out the high and Main beam 'on-together' function which I believe may have been done for the THQ ones.

Hello,
Thanks for your reply.
Okay so I’ll explain a bit more. The van is currently in for repair after an accident. For ease and because one of the headlight units is smashed I was going to put the complete vw 2016 T6 head light units back in for now. I guess your question above relates to the bulbs/lamps? If need be I can take the actual lamps out of the HQ units and put them in the original. If I did this would it be okay without altering any coding?
Many thanks

The lamp units from factory are referred to as H4, H7 and LED
Most panel vans had H4, Caravelles had H7 and LED was an option on either....this is being simplistic as any light could be specc'd for any T6 at point of ordering.
The H4 units use a twin filament H4 bulb for high and low beam, operating independently.
The H7 units use 2 separate H7 bulbs, which can be coded to be operated together to give improved High beam output.
I think the THQ units used halogen bulbs as standard. I'm guessing you have the LED bulbs from THQ for these halogen units ? They may be H11's if not so not interchangeable with H4s or H7's
