Leasure battery monitor thats compatible with Ctek smart charger

Hi, Im thinking of getting a battery monitor for my leasure battery. I currently have a CTEK smart charger keeping it topped up but I have no way of knowing how much chage I have in the battery or how much the things I have connected draw on the battery.

Would the BM2 battery monitor be compatible with CTEK smart charger ? And would I connect to CTEK to the Buzzbar on the BM2. Thanks in advanced.

The BM2 is a voltage monitor, it measures the voltage of the leisure battery and from this voltage is guesses/assumes the state of charge
It does a job at a price point most are happy with but you have to understand its limitations, it only measures voltage and nothing more !

If you want to know the actual state of charge then only a shunt monitoring device can do that accurately, it is a device that sits in series with the battery and accurately measures current flow in and out of the battery to give you a true measure of the state of charge of the battery but that comes with the associated costs

You need to assess what you want to spend vs what info you want/need about the battery charge etc and decide what you want to buy

BM2 is circa £20 so quite cheap compared to shunt based monitors that go anything upto £150

Battery monitoring is a very important part of your 12v system . . . . whether its just the vans starter battery or your leisure setup keeping an eye on the power in your battery bank will keep you from breaking down and make sure your weekends are not cut short from lack of power.

Battery monitoring is even more important with Lithium Lifepo4 batteries as the voltage stays fairly constant for 90% of the capacity.

first off lets look at a few basic 12v meters.
