Learner drivers to new drivers insurance

Hi,
Just for information to those looking for insurance for their mini-me.

When I was looking around for temporary insurance for learner driver for missus vehicle (van), I found that each company was asking so many questions upto the point it seemed like 'what did I have for breakfast and can you see it coming out yet' before you could even get to the part where they say yes/no/£.
The only one I found at the time that asked a reasonable amount of questions to get a quote, then could go further with it, was Veygo. They offer insurance by the minute to the month and it was a relatively reasonable price considering the risks.

After my mini-me passed, looked around for temporary insurance. Still looking as of writing but just to save some people time -
Veygo offered insurance for about £300 to £350 per month (random car on the street with a 1litre engine to missus van) on a temporary basis for most vehicles but not my T6.
Another which I found offered the same insurance for the about the same price but halved it with a black box. (can't remember which site as not fitting a black box for temp insurance anyway)
At the moment, but haven't gone forward with the policy yet so don't know how it works, but on the basis of name, address, dob, reg number, they have offered 28 day insurance for brand new driver for about £125 for either my T6.1 or missus van.
That company is GetCarCover . co . uk (had to type it in that way or it looks like a bloody advert for some reason)

As I said - don't know how it works as seems too cheap (almost reasonable!), but when mini-me decides she is ready, will start the process and update this post.

The sooner they start accruing their own no claims discount with their own policy the better long term. It means biting the bullet and paying out, but then I'm sure most of us here did that without parents intervention when we started driving.

Yeah but can only have 1 NCB on each vehicle.
Also, when we started driving, lets say things were a little different, but yes, I do agree - when she moves out, will have her own vehicle and her own responsibilities - but just want her to keep driving skills up (unlike me who didn't drive for 2 years after my test which was a steep learning experience when I was chucked into the drivers seat in a Mk1 transit with a capri engine in it - yes, things were different)

I took out a temporary policy with Veygo when I bought my A6, as it was cheaper to cancel the policy I had on the previous car and use temp insurance for 30 days to get a cheaper, permanent policy with a small wait.
I didn't have to test their customer service but I seem to recall they're backed by Admiral, so I would hope there wouldn't be any issues in the event of a claim.

What I didn't have to consider was, that if I had an accident or theft and needed to claim in that period, that was my sole policy so they wouldn't be able to argue the toss that the vehicle was already insured in your name.
