Planning a late summer (September) trip to Germany.

Plan is to take the ferry from Harwich over to Hook of Holland - overnight ferry is already booked.
Then day 1 drive to Koblenz with a stop near the city centre in a campsite by the river.
I plan to drive a lap of the Nürburgring as it is not too far away from Koblenz.

Then drive down to Wurzburg for the start of the romantic road route, follow that route down to Fussen.
Then make our way across to the black forest before continuing on our way back towards Calais for a tunnel crossing return.

Any reccomendations on sites, things to see and do would be appreciated.

We did the romantic road last year and tbh we thought once you have seen one of the towns you have seen them all. We thought the pick was Rothenburg ob der Tauber, this was a good size and we stayed at a site within walking distance to the city, camping tauberomantik. The pitches weren’t the best but the facilities were good. Lovely little beer garden on the river on the path in (or out) of the town https://maps.app.goo.gl/4FtvnCSPH1SFieQT7?g_st=icIMG_6235.webpIMG_6248.webp

Additionally, we carried on South into Austria and did the Zugspitze mountain (highest in Germany) which was really great. You can stay in Garmisch-Partenkirchen if you want to attack it from the DE side but we went over the border and stayed at Camping Dr lauth, interesting place. Cable car up mountain is expensive but worth it imo
