Kenwood DMX7722DABS in 2015 T5.1

Well hello, I have happily joined the family by acquiring a 2015 T5.1 Caravelle.

It has an RNS510 head unit with DAB, reverse camera (OEM I think), start/stop, parking sensors, MFSW.

I want to make a fair few upgrades to it, but I know it’s going to have to be slow and steady contrary to my personality of wanting it all right now!

I am going to begin with a head unit upgrade mainly for wireless CarPlay, so have identified the Kenwood DMX7722DABS as the best fit for me. In an ideal world, I’d like to fit it myself. I’d like to say it’s because I want to avoid spending money but it’s more because I want to scratch the itch of being able to say I fitted it myself. Problem with this is, I haven’t got a clue, I don’t have the confidence to take panels and parts off, and the wiring is probably what scares me the most! I want everything to “just work” and quite frankly I don’t know where to start.

I’ve been quoted 875 inc VAT for an install, and considering the unit is <400 it feels a little steep, or am I underestimating the job to make sure everything is wired up and working?

Would appreciate any pointers or guidance, helpful or otherwise!

As above - AbsoluT5 will be able to provide you with everything you need - and with a few simple trim tools you and a Torx sccrewdriver/bit and a little patience, you can easily remove the original headunit and connect up the Kenwood. Even places like Halfords (shudder) will do stereo fitments included in the price - maybe have a shop around locally for other suppliers. It's really not a big (or difficult) job.

Wow that is double what I paid, got mine from Halfords £323 on offer then had to by the correct harness and then £60 fitted
