Issues with Delivery of new Van

decided to purchase a van through HNV but apparently the fleet dealer they buy from has been caught out by VW retail and all fleet deliveries have been put on hold to investigate. Looks like VW are coming direct to each customer to miss out the middleman. My van is sat at the dealer until it's sorted. As long as they honour the price I was going to pay I don't care who provides the van :)

Seems to be going in circles, this happened last year and left a lot of people disappointed when their order was cancelled

It's up to VW really, they can sell me a VAN at around 15% discount or take their chances on the retail forecourt with a van that's already registered and has my unique spec. I would have thought they would be daft not to honour the contract but then strike off the 3rd party from the dealers list.

Thats more discount than can normally be bartered (12% ish max) but i think you have a strong argument and if your prepared to walk away i reckon you have a good chance

That's part of the reason i ordered and bought through a Main Dealer, but first i got them to match the price i was quoted by HNV, which they did to within a few £'s

I'm sure you'll get some kind of deal from the dealer, but VW won't be bothered if you don't buy the van at their price, demand is out stripping supply, so they'll find someone else who'll pay their asking price, and if you decide on another new T6, you will only join the back of the queue and pay the higher prices they're charging now.

Tbh I messed up on not ordering the H7s or LEDs so if I have to get a different van or brand then there might be a silver lining.

The trade dealer knew what was going on, he just got found out by his retail colleague. Perhaps VW need to look at the differential pricing as it seems too big and creates the incentives for these dodgy middlemen.

The problem is that VW do not have to try to sell these vans. Even though there are many flaws highlighted on this forum over things that are wrong, we all keep buying them.

Unfortunately for you, they will have no problem selling it from the forecourt with or without using it as a demo for a period of time. There are plenty of people that will buy these (I was one), if the spec is roughly what someone is happy with then it'll not bother them that someone else has specced it.

That said, best of look trying to get the discount you are after, stick to your guns and be prepared to walk away; you never know. Keep us posted on the outcome.

Thanks for the feedback all. My logic was that all I was asking for is an additional 3% compared to what I could get just walking off the street into the retail part of the dealer. Add a few miles on to it and not being the perfect spec for someone would mean my 15% wouldn't be that far out. .... I may have to budge a bit on the price then :-(

Last time this happened some people got one off discounts from VW to match the original pricing of the cancelled brokers price, i seem to remember someone said they got 18% ? I think @Walski was one of them ?

Oh crap! I placed my order with HNV in January.
Can I ask where you got your info - was it direct from HNV?

I've been chasing a build week for my van from HNV. Got told yesterday that their fleet dealer was having a VW audit. I guess this is the fall out from that?

Yes that's the same message I got. However I spoke to the VW dealer today and they are looking at cutting out middle men and still selling the van.....just not agreed a price yet

Hmm I'm not so sure. I'm pretty sure that HNV has spoken in terms of dealing with one dealer.
HNV haven't been very responsive to my e-mails. Guess this starts to explain why.
Seriously hoping this isn't my order up the swanny!

I ordered with HNV in September and the owner (of HNV) cancelled my order in January (when the van had arrived in the U.K.) as I started to raise some concerns about transfer of ownership. I recognise I hadn't asked the right questions when I ordered but when I started to asked them on the eve of releasing £30k I found my order cancelled. I've now ordered direct from a VW dealer it has cost me more but I feel more confident. I will not get my van until June so a long wait

Yes this did happen to me. My van was shipped and at the docks when me order was cancelled. I told my dealer exactly what had happened and he said he'd do his best to match the deal. I think from memory I was getting c20% discount from HNV and ended up with 18% from Local dealer although that was over 12 ago now. I got my deposit back from HNV plus an additional £500 compensation cos I throw a wobbly and called them out for breach of contract and batted back their pathetic t&cs excuse they gave me back in response.

I took a gamble with something similar, he keeps hold of the log book for a year to cover himself, normally I wouldn't have been keen, but the guys a friend of a friend and the price I was given i thought it was worth it.
originally placed an order with a VW dealership but was getting messed around, took two months and still no build date, kept getting stringed along with false promises each week, Was given a low dealer discount compared to some on here and there was no movement even after the delays, in the end I cancelled, glad I did as compared to the price VW was offering I got a much better spec van, but more importantly he was honest throughout and kept me updated

T32 LWB Highline, 204ps
4motion,
Kombi
DSG
Metallic paint
Tailgate with wash and wipe
LED front and rear lights
Front / rear parking sensors and rear camera
Discovery media with sat nav
Heated Captains seats with arm rests ( there's some electric button which seems to move bits around inside the chair not sure if they are extra didn't ask for it)
2+1 rear seats
The soft close feature on the side and rear door (whatever that's called where you don't need to slam it)
Extra door seals
Mud flaps
Extra set of keys
Dif lock
Electric folding mirrors (not sure if these were standard didn't order them though)

£29,232 +VAT

Compared to what VW offered me I was quite pleased received an invoice, wasn't affected by any of the price increases, sure that's roughly 20% discount but he does keep hold of the log book for a year, he could have kept hold of the misses for the year for that price though

Why? I would not be happy with this

I wouldn't entertain it, wrong on so manny levels. What if circumstances change and you need to sell quick? What if you need new number plates?

I raised a few concerns about this company in another thread from what I had seen others mention and high rankers at VW I had dealings with. Its now repeated itself again, this combined with the logbook issue must surely be worth of a stick thread warning of peoples perils @Pauly ?

I think this thread needs a note of caution.
As much as the next person I like to feel that I've got a good deal but this thread has the potential to cause damage to the businesses involved.
I'm guilty of jumping in and fanning the flames - I have a van on order and was very concerned that the order might be affected.
HNV e-mailed me this morning having seen the comments on here and I subsequently had a telephone conversation with them.
HNV uses a number of VW dealers. It would seem that in the past certain over-zealous dealers have made life very difficult for brokers (not just HNV) and their ability to access fleet terms.
This is a public forum with the potential to draw unwanted attention to who can access the fleet terms.
I'd like to see all brokers continue to flourish and offer fleet discounts to private buyers. I don't have any affiliation with any broker, other than a vested interest in the happy conclusion of my order.

(Now where did I put that hard hat?......)
