Is this T6 worth it?

Hi,

Would appreciate any advice on this van that I’m looking at buying, is it worth £22k (pretty much my max budget) - Auto Trader Vans - New and Used Vans For Sale

It has everything I need (lwb, highline, dsg, decent HP) and has scope to do a lot with. My only concern is that it is Euro 5, so no big cities. This is unlikely to be an issue for me but wonder about rate of depreciation?

Any opinions appreciated!

As far as I can see online these engines were only used in models up to 2015, I’d hope this being early 2016, it would be ok

It’s a euro 5 so definitely the 180therwise it would be the 200 euro6.

I am new here and I apologise if this is considered hijacking but we are looking at a can and would like some advice. We are a couple with 2 medium sized dogs and I am worried if a T28 on a SWB will be too small. Here is the spec:

VW T28 Highline 2020, Tailgate, 20,000 miles, SWB
Camperking Monte Carlo conversion
Solar panel
Pop up roof
Bicycle rack
Porta potti
Drive away awning included
£41k

Is this a good buy?
What are potential problems to look for?

Concerns I have:

Will this be too small for my partner and I and our 2 dogs to holiday in? I am worried it will feel claustrophobic.
I am also concerned about storage. How do you store all your stuff when the bed takes up most of the space?
I appreciate any advice. Negative or positive. Thank you.

Last things first.

Try perhaps hiring one for a weekend away and see how you get on.

I'm 6'5" and 20 stone so take up a fair bit of space on my own, but me, Mrs Sasquatch, youngest daughter and a fair size lab sleep most comfortably in my SWB. However, for 'living' there during the day on site an awning is essential for the extra space - we wouldnt all want to be in the van for anything other than sleeping or travelling.

Thet notwithstanding, the price for the van is in the ballpark if it's in good order and has full history.

The best way forward would be to hire a van for the weekend and get out there. We are a couple with 2 dogs too and are in the process of buying a van with an alternative layout to what you describe.
Have a good look through the forum for layouts, storage solutions and advice.

These vans aren’t big. We are 2 adults and have a LWB. We used to have a little Jack Russell travel with us but she is no longer around. Personally I couldn’t imagine squashing into a SWB.
If you don’t need any additional belted travel seats then just the two of you have a look at a LWB with a U-Shaped conversion.
But my advice would be to hire one for a weekend and see if you can make it work.
There are a few people on here who travel with 2 large dogs so it’s definitely do-able.

Me & Missus travel with out 4 dogs (spaniel's, springer & cocker) in our SWB T6 and I have to admit it often gets very "cosy", but I designed our van to suit our requirement's and it works fine, so it is perfectly doable

We hired a T6 California a couple of years ago for a week to see how it would work with the dogs, I then based our conversion around our experiences that week.
Definitely go that route first before spending any serious money on a van !
