Is A Temporary Leisure Battery Possible?

Hi,

As the title suggests! And if so... how?

My day van conversion is planned in for September. I have a festival and a few trip planned in before hand. It would be great if I could get a temporary leisure battery installed.

All I’ll be wanting to run is a cooler box (12v is ok for this) and USB charging. Anything else would be a bonus but not necessary.

I have a battery from my Mondeo which I’m hoping to be able to use.

Thanks

Yes of course..

Just get a battery box for your spare 12v battery.

A bit of cable and some fuses..

And probably a couple of 12v sockets..

Just charge the battery at home and take it with you.... (have it secured somewhere safe in the back of the van)

Note: a 12v cooler box will run a 110ah battery flat in 24hrs (they draw about 3amps continuously)!. (you might need 2x batterys or some way of re-charging it)

Also re-charging from the van/mobile will be more involved as you would need, dc-dc or solar or EHU or generator.

have a look at this, a rough and ready 12v battery box.

I do like the idea of that battery box, it seems nice and self contained, I've already got a great leisure battery set up including solar and don't really need any additional domestic power but feel this would be a nice way of utilizing a loose leisure battery I have surplus to van system requirement kicking around the garage, I'm thinking maybe using it for some additional off-grid festival led lighting separate from the van system. ( yes I'm one of those losers with an illuminated flag pole at festivals)... cheers @Dellmassive

Lol.....

Me too.. (flagpole)

And Camp fairy lights ....

Snap. I want to do the same as you Yeti-beard, except I want to install the battery under the seat. Advice needed on what battery and mains charger to keep topped up?
