Bit of a gripe about my wonderful van ..
why dont they make the heated mirrors turn off after a set interval. I keep forgetting to switch them off and driving around for days with them on

I've used Carista to link them to the rear screen heater. Then they're only on when the rear screen heater is on, and that turns itself off automatically.

Does anyone know if you can link them to the front heated screen in VCDS?

No option for that, I looked as I wanted to do it also

Agreed a set timer would be nice . . . . . .

but its no Biggy if they are left on. we have a BMW and the heated mirrors are ON all the time . . . . . . even in summer, there isnt even a switch to turn them on or off.

I suppose VW wouldnt need the door switch if it was temp or front/rear demister linked . . . . .

BMW told me they are on all the time to dry out rain spots from rain/splashing or misting from cold weather for safety and visibility . . . . . . . made sense at the time.

But in todays eco world it seems like a slight waste of energy to have them on when not needed . . . . . . so we end up with a manual switch instead. =]

So you might be also narked to know that the washer nozzles are on all the time the engine is running (if you have them) :)
