Interior Cab Light

I have a 2015 T5 converted van and I’m trying to figure out why my interior light does not work on the doors, when in door mode it’s just permanently on, all other functions work as they should. All doors come up on the dash when open and closed except for the side door that displays nothing, rear lights have been removed for a pop top and the dub hut said that would not have affected the interior light. Spoke with VW who said to check if anyone has teed off the wiring in the light for something else, nope this all looks factory done.
Can anyone advise what else to check, could the light it self be faulty?

Hmm, I would try and work out why your side door is not showing on the dash. Does your van have an alarm? If not there will be a plunger type button on the C post near the latch. That could be faulty otherwise it will be the contact on the B post. You could short pins 3 & 4. This can be done with a key without removing the contact shorting the terminals. You can become a VIP member and get access to wiring diagrams. I use drawings for a 2015 euro 5 T6 as the wiring is the same as a T5.1

Thank you for your reply, yes it does have an alarm.
The side door occasionally doesn’t lock, we have to press the remote 3 times to ensure all doors are locked, unsure if that’s normal or not, only had the van since May.

Update on trying to find issue with interior light:
So have identified it works on front doors opening and closing, but the side door is actioning the light the wrong way round, it thinks the door is closed when it’s open and open when it’s closed, the interior light then works fine. What is causing this? Could something be wired up incorrectly?
Still nothing showing on dash for side door, I’ve cleaned the contacts with fibreglass pen

What year is the van? I have seen this before when a battery was let go flat and it messed up the BCM. The BCM needed a reset. It could also be a wiring fault. Do the rear doors show on the dash? Has it always been this way? Any work been done?

It’s 2015, all except side door show up on dash ok, I’ve only had the van since May so unable to advise on anything else.
How do you reset the BCM?
It’s been converted from a van that’s the only work I know off.
