Interior and tail light fuse blown

The 7.5amp fuse for the interior cab light and tail lights blows on my 2017 T6, when the interior light switch is on the “door open/close sensor” position. Does anyone have any suggestions what’s causing this to blow the fuse?

It started blowing a few months ago and doesn’t blow if the interior lights are switched in the permanently OFF or ON positions.

Many thanks

Thanks I’ll see if I can get in and take a look.
I also see previous thread by @stu66sy and suggestion by @Deaky to check the loom under the passenger seat.
Interestingly I did have some work done on the interior/leisure lights recently, but didn’t think they would be connected to the vehicle electrics, but maybe something has moved causing the van lights to short.

How did it go?

As @mmi said earlier, I had the same.

I had the same problem. Turned out that the two wires to the courtesy light on the sliding door step were shorting. They run under the plastic lining on the step and had been trapped across the ribs on the underside of the plastic against the metal step instead of being run along the channel between the ribs. Stepping in and out of the van eventually wore through the insulation. Poor job by the converter when replacing the step lining.

Same circuit on mine. It was the footwell lights I had installed, think they were caught at one point.

Interestingly, it also disabled the B pillar switch to turn off the internal sensors when locking the van.

Just got my van back after having a similar issue. Warning light on dash said a light was out. All the front and rear driving lights, plus the interior lights were out. 7.5 Fuse (fuse panel located inside, under the gearstick area) blown, replaced fuse 3 times but it kept blowing immediately.
Put it into a specialist auto electrical garage, very good outfit have used them before. 3 weeks later they finally traced it to footwell light in rear slider behind drivers seat (I have a 2017 T6 T32 Kombi with twin rear sliding doors). No work ever been done down there and door isn’t used for access so never takes any weight or wear. So clearly a VW installation issue in the factory - the wiring was routed over a sharp metal edge on the floor pan, then there was a thin layer of foam over it then the padded vw floor was fitted on top of that (I also have 2 layers of padding over the floor for insulation). So hardly could have been worn through use, perhaps just vibration in the vehicle for the last 8yrs was enough to short it out. Anyway £575 later, now fixed. Ps the wiring routing is apparently different on either side of the van. Hope this helps someone with a speedier diagnosis and hence reduced bill!
