I need to buy a code reader to use on my T6. I was hoping that some of you out there might give me some recommendations on which ones to stay away from and which ones are worth my hard earned ££££'s

OBD11 or VCDS are the ones.

Carista is ok, but there are items that crop up with increasing frequency (cough, temeatics batteries, cough) that it cant deal with.

If you just want to read codes, there are plenty of ELM37 ODBII Bluetooth readers available. (although no idea if they all work)

I have one that looks exactly like this, however I bought it 10 years ago, so no idea if it's actually the same one internally.

I use it with Carscanner app or TorquePro. Car scanner allows me to read and clear codes.

I also have OBDEleven which, when paired with the subscription gives the ability to make changes via adaptations and long coding.

Carista Evo is a good gentle introduction to the dark arts of code reading, easy to use and the ability to use it on non Vag vehicles. I used mine on the wife's Evoque the other day. There are indeed certain things it won't let you do but for the majority of jobs it's great and well worth the subs. OBD11 will be my next birthday/fathers day/Christmas present when my girls don't know what to get me!
