hub centric rings? Advice needed!

Hi, I went to put on steels for winter however they don’t fit due to what I think are hub centric rings. Do I have to have them for my alloys as that’s a bit of a pain to refit every summer. Also I would be stuck if I got a flat.

I’m just wondering what everyone else does? Thanks

Normal, recent, VW steel wheels for this vehicle do not need rings. If the wheels come from another outlet manufacturer or shop then they may do. There are wheels that will superficially fit, have the same PCD bolt spacing but the bore hole may be slightly too large, they need the rings. If the PCD does not corespend then there are some spacers that will change that also.

Thank you, I’ll look into the spacers, are they are easier to remove than the hub rings? Is there a proper way of removing the hub ring so I can reuse them, or will a screwdriver be sufficient? I think they are metal.

Are you talking about spigot rings? You can get hub centric spacers which should always be used if using spacers.

Possibly, is that suppose to fit in the alloy then? Seemed pretty tight on the hub. I’ll have another look tomorrow. Cheers

What steels are you trying to put on the van?

to tight would indicate the centre bore (the hole in the middle of the wheel) is to small or you already have a spigot ring or they can be called a hub centric ring installed. To big and you will need a spigot ring to stop any movement as this video will show you.
