How many services would you expect a 17plate 204 DSG PV to have had done with only 3500mls on the clock

As the title suggests.... interested to hear peoples thoughts on this as I know the frequencies can be adjusted to suit...but what if the vehicle just doesn't cover the miles?

Would you buy a vehicle with this history? The only service it has had done was not at a main dealer.

Thanks peeps.

Depends on if it is on Longlife or time and distance.
the first service is 10K or 12 months.
Second at 24months
Brake fluid at 3 years

If it's on Longlife, then probably only had the first.

Mine is a similar van, 2017/204/DSG/4mot. 37kmiles. It’s been serviced according to the flexible service schedule & has had 1 major service at 20k miles & a voluntary oil change at 30k. Technically it’s overdue a cam belt & DSG oil change, which it will be getting both early next year.

Thanks guys...prob due in the very near future brake fluid, DSG service and cam belt even though only covered the 3.5k mls....just weighing things up.

3500 miles on a 2017 plate!

Seriously low mileage.

As above, service intervals state time or duration..... So it's up to you how you interpret it.

The oils and filters maybe clean as it's only had 1000miles use. So do you change it or leave it. (If it was me I'd leave it for a while).

Rubbers will need changing as they degrade with time.... Timing and aux belts, tyres etc.

In fact at 3500miles the engine isn't even run in properly yet.

It's about 4k to 8k when the engine starts to loosen up.(depending on driving style)

VW say drive conservative for the first 1000miles keeping revs low.

Then after the engine frees up (4-8k miles) have the first oil change done at about 10-12.5k miles. As @Loz said.

It wouldn’t put me off.

Although, I would be wondering why it’s only covered 3,500 miles in 4 years. Has it been used for short journeys in town and left idling for hours? Has it been off the road for repairs or accident damage? It is a PV rather than a camper!
I’m my experience modern vehicles like to be used and for long runs to get up to temperature.

:thumbsup:Yup good point...I've yet to have a reply back from them telling me these things.

It’s a lot of “parked up” time - the belts will need changing as they were “parked up” under tension!

I bought mine in march this year with 17k. It has now done 24k miles in total.
both front wheel bearings were shot in the 4yrs of sitting around.
