Help with Error code P0087.

Hi everyone,

I have searched the the forum threads but nothing comes up that fits my current situation and was wondering if anyone here may have any insights.

I recently bought a t6.1 startline 110 with some dpf issues. Fixed them with a new sensor and a couple regeneration cycles.

All was good for a couple hundred miles and then my first issue started. in 3rd - 4th gear, under acceleration. The response would cut for a split second and then kick back in. Then, when climbing a mountain road it went in to limp mode and started flashing the glow plug warning. I pulled over and stupidly restarted the van before reading the codes and they disappeared. fast forward a couple hundred more miles and a couple of little acceleration stutters here and there. I was driving home tonight and The van had a couple of bad acceleration cuts but they lasted 1-2 seconds each, and then the flashing glow plug showed itself. Pulled over and scanned to read the codes -

P0087 fuel rail/system pressure - too low bank 1.

Restarted the van and all is good again. I’m going to order a new fuel filter first to see if that helps and then maybe look at the fuel pump if that doesn’t work.

Has anyone had similar experiences and maybe have some incite to what It could be?

Thanks in advance.

Just to add if anyone does have any information. Van started on the button today but a couple minutes in to the drive and it started stuttering and the glow plug light was flashing again. Restarted the van and it’s gone for now.

Just seen your message mate, and replied ok my thread but incase you dont see it i will share it here. As mine runs perfect apart from the p0087 code intermittently, but each time a loss of 300 - 500 bar was logged so obviously something is wrong but not for long. I had the fuel rail sensor replaced, no luck code came back. Yesterday we had the hpfp replaced as its at 100,000 miles and we have had water contamination in the fuel before so thought all must point to that, got it back last night running better then ever before so thought great all sorted but 165 miles into my journey today coil light and code again! Bit of back history when we had water contamination all 4 injectors went in march this year so they have already been replaced along with fuel sensor and hpfp and still getting this code! Cost me £4.5k up to now and still no joy! Next up is the fuel rail and regulator but there still is no obvious sign as its running perfect!

I really appreciate you messaging me with some information on your situation. It’s been difficult for myself to get the garage to look at it as every time the problem shows it’s self and I go there the problem as gone! I need to park it up as soon as it happens again but I use it for work so it’s difficult doing that. I did read a thread about poor quality supermarket diesel which I use a lot of so I I filled it with vpower diesel and added SFP ultra 5in1 to the tank. Ran through that and filled the same again except the SFP and it might be a coincidence but the last couple dpf regens haven’t been as bad and the last one didn't throw any Codes. Its been in the body shop the last week and half so once I get it back and the issue shows itself I will get it to the garage and keep you posted if I find anything.
