First technical post.

I have a bit of a problem…..IMG_4552.webpT6.1 2024 Can anyone please advise me what this housing is? Lowest point on the engine at the front mounted to the subframe. I have searched above it for any coolant leaks and everything is dry. Seems to be leaking from this housing… as I can see air bubbles around the area where the coolant appears to be leaking too.

Any help appreciated as VW can’t fit it in to look at it under warranty for 2 weeks.

trying to work out the orientation of the item, but that looks like its the electric water pump i think. if its under warranty, and its not leaking that much to quickly, wait for them to sort it.... if you dont then your warranty could be voided.

Thanks. I don’t think it’s the aux water pump, but it is connected to it via a hose. It looks like some sort of aux thermostat?

Auxiliary water pump I believe.?

Passenger side, lower front?

It's under warranty, taken it to VW and see what they say.

Thanks for the reply. It doesn’t have any electrical connections to it to power a water pump. I think the hose connection does go to the water pump though. I can’t find any schematic diagram of this part and a part number on it. It’s like a 3way coolant hose plastic housing with a removable plastic cover. Under the cover is some sort of actuator lever which I imagine operates via a thermostatic controller to operate a valve.

Could it be some sort of automatic air bleed valve? Lowest point of cooling system where air may become trapped? Just clutching at straws here.

it doesn't look like its leaking that much. keep it topped up and just wait to get it into VW under warranty. they will have to drain the system so at least you know it will have a fill up of new coolant lol, especially if you tell them you've had to keep topping it up with fresh water.....

I’ve had a bit of a play about with moving the control valve lever. to see if it might have been stuck or something. It’s pissing out now. I think the seal inside around the lever and the body of the valve must be buggered.

I’ve literally just done 1270miles up around the NC500 and back home. Had to nurse it round topping up the coolant with water. I had breakdown anxiety in the Scottish highlands. 🤣

It’s a pain that VW can’t get it in to sort it for nearly 2 weeks. 🤬

if you dont need it and have access to another car. I've known people to have quicker results by just dropping it in to them and hand them the keys telling them to deal with it, its broken!!!. because its there if they get a space from lack of parts they might get it done sooner.

I’ve just been onto the service dept again and sent pics of the faulty part. They’re going to identify the part number get it ordered and hopefully fitted sooner than later.

Thanks for your help. Really appreciate it!
