I have just tried to reinstall, my Victron MPPT. Everythiong was working before I re did my setup.

Now I am getting this error:

#67 BMS Connection Lost.

E79413D4-0831-423A-B3EA-0EB49CD63CD9_1_105_c.webp

I've checked all the connections and swapped leads, so thats not the issue.

TIA.

Have you checked the MPPT via Bluetooth to see if it’s actually working? Are there any settings at the MPPT end that need to be changed?

The MPPT was displaying on the Crbo screen and the LEDs on the unit itself were working. It was visible in the VRM and firmware up to date. I've uninstalled everything at the moment and was planning to have another go tomorrow. I will see what happens and take more photos.
The next step I havent tried is to reset to factory defaults via VictronConnect. I was hoping to avoid that.

Hmmm! I'm not familiar with the Cerbo units, but on the rest of the Victron range, there's an option to back up your settings in case you have to do a reset.

Just been chatting to a guy from Facebook (oh it has its use occasionally) and think I know what the problem is. I wont know till I get to reinstall the MPPT.

Have your got dvst switched on?

REboot the GX. And see what comes back.

It's saying that it's can't read the battery BMS to control they charging of the mppt ... Normally when dvst is enabled

Assumed that you are using the Roamer gen4 battery BMS for battery soc reading via can bus... An that your are using dvst to centrally control all chargers.

...

Go into vrm and delete the mppt entry.

Then re add it.

This is because you are disconnecting the mppt and hot plugging it back in on occasion.

Not tried it yet. But I think it is to do with the Roamer can bus lead and the dvcc settings.

I really want to get it set up so the SoC is from the shunt rather than the BMS. Not had time to look yet.

Will report back.

You'll be pleased to know that my baby daughter has bought me the 500 Victron shunt for me to enjoy the pleasure of fitting in the new year! Any pointers welcome! Good luck Sir!

Thanks. Its pretty easy to fit. No pointers needed. However it will drive you mad if you leave the battery CAN cable connected getting the Cerbo to show the shunt SoC rather than the BMS. I know its possible, but not managed it yet.

For a small system like mine, I think I will leave the battery CAN cable out. I cant see any disadvantage at the moment. Its not like I will ever be trying to charge over 100A :O

As for me, I've refitted the MPPT and its now not showing an error, but I have left the Battery cable out and turned off the DVCC.

Makes sense. I can still look on BT if I want to see what the Roamer says it has, no confusion that way.
I spoke to Steve at Roamer last week who told me to 'reset' the battery with the special code, and it jumped down 30% when I did that.
Shunt here we come.

You might need to buy some new cable lugs, the bolts on the shunt are huge lol.
Also you will need another VC-Direct cable.

Dvcc yes, sorry typo earlier saying dvst.

To many acronyms.

The distributed voltage charge control, or something like that.

The Cerbo talks to the battery BMS and them controls all the connected chargers, of the cerbo losses come with the battery BMS then you get the error.

It's best to run with dvcc off.

And have all the chargers separate on smaller systems.
