Hi.

Trading out the Caddy and wanting to build up the dream day van/camper for our wee family. Probably buying in with a panel vans and gradually converting to a Kombi style camper with Ovano bed and either a roof tent or pop top. Not fussed about internal kitchens etc as plan to cook in side awning or under tailgate.

I work as a gardener (herbaceous borders so don’t need big cutting tools) and I’m planning on using the Ovano Switch system to store tools during the week and then family stuff for weekends/longer trips.

Currently looking at a few panel vans with the following must have specs:

Silver, grey or black.
T6.1 SWB, T30/T32, Highline
150bhp+
Less than 30k miles
Budget of up to £32k

Have found what I think might be the ideal van but it’s a 204bhp DSG. Any thoughts regarding this … does that significantly affect insurance?

Thanks in advance!

LWB gets my vote!!
Highline is a decent enough spec.
150 is ample (DSG?)

Get a Kombi so you can ignore "van" speed limits straight away (as long as you're under 2040kg MAM).
The windows may leak but, depending on what you end up installing in the back, you can sell the rear seats for decent money.

Many thanks for the replies folks.
Van has sold now anyway so back to the drawing board.
You’ll be please to know I’m now looking at a lwb (not black!) vehicle so that might be the one.
