Hi I'm trying to work out the cheapest but also best and most appropriate insurance for my van . its fitted with an ovano drawer and bed unit that I use both as a camper bed but also bulkhead and tool drawer for my music gear when I do gigs .obviously leisure battery and solar set up but all cooking is done outside the van . its got windows but just the two rear side panels and tailgate not the entire van. other than that the van is stock its the t6 van in my profile pic.

It’s not a camper and camper ins. Co. Will ask about equipment, storage, table etc.
Business ins. will include leisure cover.
I use direct line for my work van - maybe not the cheapest but I have found them very efficient for claims and very easy to deal with online and on the telephone.

Others will soon cite different views and experiences I’m sure!

Probably,y not a camper for insurance purposes but dont take my word for it - gife the insurers all the details and let them decide rather than guess yourself and risk being wrong.

In my limited experience of insuring my van over the last few years, I have found that different insurers deal with modifications in very different ways. Best to simply set out what has been changed from the original, as delivered to the original purchaser, and let them sort it out. Direct Line and Admiral were quite picky. Brentacre seem to have a much more relaxed view.

I ended up with Adrian Flux who wanted pictures of mods "Campal Pod/Bed" etc. Insured as a camper with business use. Not the cheapest though.
