Headunit identification YD7

Hi all,

This is being advertised but I can't identify it. Anyone seen this before and know what it is? would it work in a T6?

That looks like a Discover media unit, it would normally have a vw part number on it, is it unlocked?

All the seller has said is that it is "genuine" as it came out of his T6 when he upgraded to an alpine head unit. Trying to understand what this is so I can ask him some better questions.

The fact it has no VW or VAG markings on it raised suspicions, as you have mentioned.

All the other genuine VW headunits have "TRAFFIC" where the "APP" button is on this headunit. I'm thinking this is a copy?!

I don't know what these are worth. I understand it needs "unlocking" due component protection, but understand that it's possible now. Unit is fully working, includes the SD card and already has Apple CarPlay activated. Based near Salisbury, Wiltshire - open to offers Sorry - didn’t know about...

Traffic is the older unit, this is the newer version that has an app button instead
It will need unlocking to work in a vehicle outside the one it left the factory in but as mentioned above @Dav-Tec is your man for this and can do it remotely with you (as long as you have an SD card) and think it costs around £80-100
If you want car play to work you may need to swap your existing usb socket in the van (if its not an apple compatible one) and thats about another £30 at a guess

Thanks Pauly thats great info. I've not looked in to car play yet but I have an andriod, is that comptaible with carplay or is it apple OS only?

Is there anything in addition to unlocking thats needed to get this working? Like wiring harness? I also guess I'd need to install a gps aerial for this headunit to work if nav isn't used through carplay?

Big thanks to @Dav-Tec for his services in unlocking and updating this discover media headunit. I can highly recommend Chris, fitted me in with short notice and worked through the evening to get this done remotely. Really straightforward process.
