Having difficulty programming aftermarket auto light switch

Think you need to give a bit more info. What switch, program it how. Is it oem? a link to the product, some pics of your install.

My vwt6 does not have day time driving lights. So I got auto light switch from Vee Dub Transporter online! Basically connect to the existing plug on wiring loom and follow the instructions, just can’t seem to get it to work, so I was just asking out there if anyone else has fitted one!!!

An automatic light switch won't give you daytime running lights. Your van will have come with them, they are the inner two of your headlights. Are you sure the bulbs aren't blown, they should come on with ignition unless they've been disabled on your MFD.

Ok, I’ve just brought the van and I’m just getting use to it, I will check the lights tomorrow! Really appreciate your help,

That’s the one I’ve got, I plugged it in following the instructions but I can’t get it to work, do you no if it will work on my van, do you know if I’ve tried programming it once does it mess it up or can I try and program it again!

Can you elaborate on 'wont work' ?

I have one of these...you just plug it in and it works...the programming side of things is more configuring options...it will still 'work' with any of the options.

The operation is put it in 'auto' and leave it alone. if its dark when you turn your ignition on or get dark whilst your driving, your lights will change from DRL to side lights, to dipped headlights depending on how dark it is.

My unit has a remote sensor, i tucked it at the bottom of the screen by the A-pillar....for testing though if you just cover it over, you should see your lights turning on 'automatically' if the switch is set to Auto.

That’s interesting, so your lights don’t go from DRL’s straight to dipped headlights like factory auto lights?

The veedubtransporters switch isn’t suitable for my van as it has stop start. is it possible to get one that is suitable?

ps light sensor is very sensitive so position it by the switch (in a dark place) to get it to come on at C3.30pm when its starts to get dark.

Now your making me doubt myself, ill keep a better eye on it next time im driving as it gets dark. it may be the DRLs were still on at the time the dash backlights lit up and i wrongly assumed the sidelights had come on.

VW do like to keep you guessing when dash backlights that come on and off irrelevant of the headlights and also give no indication on the dash if your sidelights/headlights are on!

This is true...i started out with my sensor visible at the end of the dash, i ended up poking it down the windscreen behind the dash to get it coming on at a reasonable time. added bonus it is completely out of sight.

I’ve just popped one of these in, all seems to work fine apart from the lights don’t turn off automatically. Any ideas please?
