Halo type lighting

I just wondered if anyone has put up any secondary sort of ‘ambience’ lighting on the ceiling in the van?
I’ve seen the Halo lighting but can’t afford the £400, so was thinking about some 12v tape led lighting that could possibly run around the outside of the ceiling panel and just wondered if anyone has done anything similar?
Any advice would be appreciated.

yes I have added some 12V strip lighting which is has 3M self adhesive backing pads onto the OEM roof panels. I use it in Red as ambient lighting to see the kids in the back when driving at night. works really well. Ill grab a picture for you.

I have it wired into an ignition live feed then just use the supplied remote to turn on and off

this sort of thing, cant remember the exact one I order but they are pretty cheap:

Ps, this is mine. I think mine is slightly different to Ben’s design in that the board still sits on the roof as it would without the halo and they’ve created the halo around the inset that sits on the roof. I had expected them to do it the same way as Ben, but this also works well and I guess preserves the same room in the pop top if i (or a future owner) ever want to add a bed. I just wish that brighter COB RGBW LED strips were available as it’s not as bright as i would like on the white. Great for mood lighting though!

Hi all, I'm jumping ahead here on my build thread but here goes anyway. I've seen loads of nice Halo roofs on vans but none had a pop top conversion so I thought I'd give it a go.
I had the pop top fitted to self build spec so it was a raw finish, no carpet etc etc. I worked out how it operated in terms of the bed itself being hinged at the back and the 2 gas struts as I knew I didn't want to just add lights to the side of the frame and besides the gas strut on each side would partially block them. I was going to need to raise the bed a bit and make the halo surround under it and this...
