GUIDE T6 Door Card Paint & Trim

This thread will chronicle my journey of transformation of these two tone door cards.

I bought these two cards on a whim to see if I could improve the cabin feel, from workman to luxury(ISH)

Step 1 - Separate the insert

Use a 10mm or 12mm drill bit to drill out the weld studs



If you can, use a trim tool at the same time to pry up the insert.

Step 2: The long welds

I used a new Stanley blade and sharp chisel to remove the head of the long weld. There are a few of these on the both the insert and also black armrest.




The end result should be something like this.

Step 3: Head gun for plastic welds

Tricky one now,. Using a heat gun, apply full heat for a few seconds onto each weld.

Use a trim tool to prise off the black armrest one weld at a time.



There are quite a few, so work from one side to the other.
