Gremlin in the system.

Hello all.

I have a 2017 T32 auto that's giving me some electrical issues and wondering if any of you have had similar?

As per the attached photos I have warnings for front assist not working. Start stop not working, ABS light has come on and strangely tyre pressure sensor not found (even though it's never had internal sensors. Just the ABS system). Now if the ABS system isn't working I get the tyre sensor issue however all these things at once must be connected.

About a year ago I had a coil warning come up and it went into limp mode a few times but always cleared the issue after a decent burn on motorway.

I took the van into a VW van centre and they said there was some moisture in a connector regards the coil light but the couldn't see any issues other than that. Of course 4 days after the lights all came back on and I'm here now as I have absolutely no faith in the VW dealer (I'm out in Australia).

The front assist and start stop started about 5 months ago and 3 months back the steering wheel controls all stopped. Clock spring I hear you say and yes I had that replaced at a VW specialist garage ( not the main dealer)last week but the other issues persist.

Any thoughts? I can't even clear the codes.

Thanks all. 20250513_093304.jpg20250513_093309.jpg20250513_093302.jpg20250513_093321.jpg

Far more knowledgable people on here than myself on here but what amazes me is one small fault can cause issues in many things in modern machinery. Wheel sensor problems can cause some of the things that you report but I guess having the codes read and displayed on here is going to help those more able to help you.

Not sure about the start stop issues, could be one of many things but the other problems are almost certainly caused by a broken wheel speed sensor. Scanning your van with VCDS or similar will identify which one.

As above, get a scan done. You may not even need full VCDS kit to show a likely culprit.

Currently on my van, 2016 T32 manual 140, I have warnings for ABS, stability control, stop start and tyre pressure monitoring unavailable. My van does not have front assist.
A quick scan with a basic code reader showed 4 faults, all related to the rear right hand wheel speed sensor. I didn't take a picture of the screen but from memory, these were;
- implausible signal
- incorrect part fitted
- sensor open or short to ground
- sensor faulty.

I'm just waiting for sensor from Autodoc.

It's a common fault and as wheel speed is used in the calculations for many electronic systems, a simple sensor failure can cause a number of systems to fail.
I'm confident that front assist will need to know the vehicle speed too so my money's on a wheel speed sensor.
Bear in mind that your ABS cannot function properly without all the information that it needs.

Thanks for the info. The garage did look for the codes but with no luck. They have the full VW computer system so as you say it's probably a wheel sensor.
Are they easy to replace?

All those warning lights and no codes? That is unusual...

This would be my thoughts too. I had lots of similar errors caused by a wheel speed sensor.
