Golf Steering Wheel in my Highline T6

Just wanted to post here, could probably save a few people a headache, like mine lol.

I’ve successfully fitted a golf wheel in my T6 Highline.

What I used:

Golf 7.5 steering wheel £110 Ali Express

Golf GTD/GTI airbag (5G0880201H) £110 eBay

Polo GTI 6C MFSW controls (6c0959442c) £135 eBay

I used the T6 loom and attached to airbag and MFSW controls, no issues at all.

Literally, plug and play. Absolutely love it.

A small update. I thought I’d test some cheap Ali express buttons. They offer switchable programming to the buttons to suit different layout / platforms. I was really skeptical, but they are infact working 100%. Going to test them for a couple months and report back, but I’m really impressed. Cost… £36!

Only downside, the buttons don’t feel as premium, but they’re alright… and the lights are white instead of the GTI red.

They sent the guide in Chinese, but chatGPT kindly made me these instructions dubbed over in English.

Update on the Chinese buttons. They are working well but the average mpg is way off. Showing around 15mpg higher than normal (I wish)

Ignore the MPG comment. Ended up getting a fault for glow plug 3. So far, no downsides to the buttons. Would actually recommend them.

Sounds good, hoping to get mfsw with CCS cruise on my T6. Do you have a description of the part to get from ali express? Should have said that I have the golf mk7.5 wheel here and the airbag, just the buttons I need help with.

I’d recommend them currently, I’m not sure how they’ll hold up long term, so I’d probably advise the polo gti 6c ones if you can source them. I have one set here I’ll be listing on eBay.

There are many sellers on Aliexpress with the same product. You’ll notice their listing give different options for button layouts - searching golf mfsw buttons or “golf steering wheel buttons”. They’re all programmable using the diagram I posted above. Am I allowed to post the seller link here?

Thanks for the reply, can I just check that you have the ali express buttons giving you cruise? Or if I would need the polo buttons to get that? And I'm hoping to get the dsg paddles on my golf r mk7 wheel to integrate with this if poss? Do the ali express buttons have the connectors on the back for the dsg paddles?

Yes mate they have the connectors for paddles as well. Yes, I have highline bcm and the cruise control is working on original buttons and the Ali express buttons. They have switchable functions, may be a little tricky if you need to get it coded in as well, I’m not sure. Where abouts are you? I’d be happy to lend you a set for testing.

Here’s an example of the usual sellers. It’s all the same chip, just different button layouts then they’re programmed pre shipping, according to the layout you’ve ordered. They all have paddle inserts behind them.

But obviously you can change the functions of the button using the instructions a Chinese seller gave me… in Chinese lol.
