German sold multivan heating system - does it differ from colder countries?

Interesten in buying a german sold multivan, I live in sweden and are a bit worried that the heating systems are different. Cars sold in sweden are somtimes fitted with extra electrical heating. Just to get the temp higher-faster.

This specific car has this specification.

Does anyone know if this is standard or if color countries has other systems added.

It’s got the “Rear” button on the climate panel which indicates it has additional heating in the rear passenger compartment but the coolest it will blow is ambient air. The next grade up gets digital display on that panel which then has heating and A/C chilled air in the back.

In the UK some vans are fitted with an auxiliary Webasto diesel heater which activates under 5c to heat the engine coolant system more quickly, the engine subsequently warms up much faster and you get warm through the cabin vents about 2-3 mins after starting.

So approx. how long will it take to warm up on a cold murning @ -10 deg C?

And will the front A/C be enough to cool the entire car on a hot summer day for all passengers?

I have only had my van in those conditions once so couldn’t say, someone like @mmi will have far more info.

I do know a lot about cooling the cabin in summer though! At anything over 25c the front only A/C cannot adequately cool the rear cabin, the front is nice and cold but the rear takes up to an hour to get comfortable. It’s fine on long drives but getting in to the cabin at 35c to pop out for half an hour is not great for the rear passengers. If buying again I would get the 3 zone climatic with digital display up front so you get proper A/C in the rear compartment, but we spend time in southern France and the UK summer can have quite a lot of hot weather even if it’s combined with rain!

Thanks for the reply, great answer!
One question though, is it unbarebale in the back @ 30c when doing short trips?

Summer in Sweden is similar to UK, do you think that this setup would be ok? Not really planning to do any travel to southern europe.

Interestingly what we got for T6 were options KH1 (heating only) and KH3 (heating+cooling). The difference seems to be that KH2 has only ventilation (no cooling) in the passenger compartment.

Anyways, I think you should make sure the van has either parking heater or auxiliary coolant heater - they are basically the same unit - just different software. However, parking heater can be turned on without engine running e.g for cabin preheating. A sticker in driver's door would tell if there is either one.

The auxiliary coolant heater can be reprogrammed as a parking heater. See details here:

So approx. how long will it take to warm up on a cold murning @ -10 deg C?
When used as preheater (engine+cabin) thus engine not running it takes approx. 6 minutes when coolant has reached 30C and it starts to warm up the cabin. See for some fancy details in here:

Without Webasto it feels like "forever" to warm up properly at those temperatures. E.g. at +5C without Webasto running it takes approx. 15 mins for engine to reach 75C (at gauge 90C) - when travelling 80 km/h.

Huge thanks for the write up. Aked the seller to take a photo of the sticker. (No webasto = no sticker?)

Is it possible to see if the bus has this from the build sheet? I got that...
