Hi all,

Had a go at installing a drivers side flush sliding window from Campa glass this weekend. Unfortunately there are gaps in the adhesive in the bottom corner closest to the drivers door:

Gutted!

Can I fill these gaps in so to speak? I saw this thread which talked about using Captain Tolley's or Sika EBT, would this be ok or could these gaps signify a bigger problem, I don't really want it falling off when driving!

If filling is ok, I think my gaps might be a little to big for Captain Tolley's? Any thoughts? Thanks for any advice!

Hi Mikey, are you 100% sure those are gaps that go all the way through? Are you getting water coming in? It’s difficult to tell from the picture due to the focus. The adhesive is quite shiny, but that might just be blobs of adhesive? I have similar uneven blobs of adhesive from my window attempts, but they don't let water in.
I also have had water ingress from the top of my first go though and captain tolleys sorted it out, but I suspect they were tiny gaps. It’s worth a shot if there are gaps as window removal is a pain. Good luck either way mate!

You had to ask about leaks didn't you?!

I think they signify my tears šŸ˜šŸ˜‚

Thank you for your response and sorry for the poor first photo, the gaps definitely go all the way through šŸ˜”

I think I will mask everything and give sikaflex a go to try and plug the gaps/leaks and see if that works, just need it to stop raining first. Else will bite the bullet and ask someone to take it off and redo it for me.

No worries. Ouch that’s quite a few leaks:(, I suspect that maybe a window out and have a second go mate tbh. I don’t think captain tolleys would sort gaps that big, it’s really thin stuff. Just my thoughts, no expert here so hopefully someone else might have a better suggestion. Let us know how you get on whatever you decide to do.

If you seal it from the inside you may well stop the water from leaking inside the van, but the water will probably hold in the voids created by your first attempt. In time this may create further issues. I would bite the bullet send it to professional have them removed and re-bonded correctly..

Thanks both, I think you’re right 😄

Any recommendations for mobile window fitters who cover Oxfordshire at all? Thanks!

Hey, just to add some closure to my woes, I picked up my van from Express Windscreens in Witney who've done a super job! They took the window off that I fitted badly and refitted that, and fitted the passenger slider and tailgate at the same time (after I'd cut the holes ready).

Can't recommend them enough, super friendly, really flexible on their availability and even had a go at repairing a chip in my windscreen for free when I mentioned it. Really positive experience and what feels like a big step in the kombi conversion journey!
