Dummy window fitting / breathing holes / gaps

Did a search but found nothing specific. I have rear quarter dummy glass to be fitted but was wondering has any one else left any form of gap in the silicone at the bottom, or a small hole into the body to let them breath at all?

And use proper suction clamps - don't just dangle it half heartedly on a few strips of tape. You want even pressure all round.

This is useful. Also details the stick on trim to hide the gap in the glass where the paint colour shows through. Not an issue on dark vans!
