Fuel smell during DPF regen. T6.

Every so often, the idle rises to 1000rpm and the fan stays on after the engine is switched off.
I understand this is the system burning off soot in the particulate filter.
Just recently, there has been a smell of diesel fuel while the idle is high and the van stationary. It seems to be blowing forward from the exhaust. I hadn't noticed it before.
Everything seems fine otherwise. No warning lights ( yet ?).
Any ideas, please?

Yes - that is the regen. Mine does it for may 15-20min. A bit shorter if engine turned off but then it might start up again when next started up. Or it might not.
Not a problem. Just 'is'.

Might be (i am almost sure..) te 'tube' (pipes) from the egr. There could be u rupture caused by pollution...

What age/model/engine etc is the van?
Probably different answers depending on 10 year old / 2 month old.
