Fuel guage dropping from full very quickly - T6 T32

Does anyone ever notice the fuel guage dropping very quickly from full... like dropping 2 notches but the range staying around 400 miles? Seems to drop within driving about 3 miles.

Its an 18 plate, seems to happen just after I put fuel in, unsure whether the gauge thinks I've filled to the top and corrects itself quickly or not.

No, Mine goes from full to empty pretty steadily, although I think it goes down slightly faster on the bottom half.
Has yours always been the way you describe or just started doing it?

Only just noticed it, weirdly the range doesn't drop on the MFD, and when I drove home for a good hour the other day it did slow down and even go backwards slightly so im wondering if its the sender in the tank playing up.

I try and keep it full although havent filled to the point the pump stops, but the fuel gauge last few times jumped right to full, but then within a few miles drops drastically... im gonna fill to the pump stops today and see if issue re-occurs. Was wondering if it was more fuel gauge behavior or faulty sender etc

Might be the sender unit playing up?

Maybe do five runs of the tank from full to empty so you get the full range movement on the float and see if that clears it up.

If not you might be looking at a new fuel sender unit?

brim it it will stay on full for 100 or more miles before it moves then your be back here saying i think my fuel gauge is stuck on full

Also make a note of the mileage from each 'tankfull' from fillup to brim. Make sure you note how many litres you put in also.

Similar to mine. Just been to France/Belgium and my MPG was pretty good. Must be all the flat land.

I think when I've topped up with the odd £30 the fuel gauge is reading full when its no way near, so when driving a few miles its correcting itself. I've just put another 10l in from the bottom two notches and its now brimmed as the pump wouldn't add any more.

on a long journey and i need fuel on a motorway i put in say £30 worth when its on a 1/4 and it reads full for about 10 miles then drops rapidly

Let's say a 70 litre tank.
1/4 = approx 18litres
18 litres @ 1.50 per litre (motorway) = £27

If you are putting in £30 and the tank is 1/4 full, you would only expect to have a little over half a tank of fuel in there.

thats why it reads full then drops like a stone i think im doing so well mpg when its brimmed the needle dont move for the first 100 miles

Just bumping this thread…. I filled to the pump click yesterday and drove 140 miles home. Got in the van this morning and noticed that the guage is still at the full level. New sender needed or drive over some bumps to try and free off?
