Fuel filter replacement

I want to be able to replace my fuel filter myself during traveling. I want to know if it is possible to fill the fuel filter by contact on several times to get the air out of the system. It is a T6.1 campervan motorcode DMZA model 2024. I don’t have a VDCS tool. It seems to be possible for other motorcodes but not the recent one like the DMZA.

Welcome to the forum  I think you can do it with Carista obd tool and the app on your phone. That’s how I do mine. Worth a google search to see if it’s compatible as mine is older than yours.

No.. the ignition doesn't run the lift pump.

You need a scan tool, like carista . As above.

Or just fill the new filter with derv from a jug.

the small bit of air will self bleed out. . . same as running the lift pump to fill an empty filter. . .

the air will get pushed to the rail and work its way back to the tank id assume, via the return lines.

Thanks, I will fill the new fuel pomp with diesel if I need to replace during traveling in Morocco. Do I need to fill it to the max?

Do the 6.1's not run the lift pump when it cranks? I know with my T6 I just turn the key and as soon as it goes to crank, lift the clutch so it stops cranking and the pump remains running for a couple of seconds. Do this 3 or 4 times and job done.

If its an auto, I have no idea if releasing the brake will stop it cranking.
