Front headlight beam pattern

Hi,

So over this weekend I have installed new headlight units on my T5.1.
I ordered this unit, Pardon our interruption...

I assume it to be the same as transporter hq, but im not entirely sure that it's not just a clone.

I have found the beam pattern to be a bit weird, I don't understand why there is a massive gap in the middle. I think it needs more adjustment.
Does anyone have any tips?

Just doesn't look right to me.

This is a bit further back, the beams spread putt, but im a bit concerned about the spread to the right. Maybe I need to adjust the right headlight to aim further left? 1000018345.webp

What bulbs are you using?

Had issues with LED bulbs not correctly reflecting inside the projector lights leaving gaps at the bottom.

That's not right. The only thing I can think of is relevant of you have LED bulbs in them. Most of them can be rotated so that they emit light onto the reflector for it to hit the projector lens in the correct way. From memory the diodes need to be facing sideways.

Using osram night breaker 220. They do seam to be crazy bright compared with the previous stock candles.

These are h7 road legal 55w bulbs

Something isn’t right if you are using standard bulbs. Silly question but are you sure they are the correct way up?

Right then. As they are halogen, check that you have them seated properly. If they are in correctly, I'd send them back.

Bulbs are brand new from amazon in sealed osram box, I have no reason to think it's the bulbs. The headlight units came with its own bulbs, maybe tommorow I will chuck them in and see what happens, but it's a light bulb. I suspect the beam pattern is the headlight design.

Yeah, agreed that something isn't right 😂, the bulbs have locator tabs can't really go in upside down.

The beam pattern on your right side isn't too dissimilar to mine, the spread at least and also the shadow in middle and gap.

If I can adjust the weird tick, it could look the same I guess

I didn't mean send the bulbs back. I meant the lights. Either the reflector, the bulb holder or projector is on the wonk.

I've been out on the driveway in the wind. I think they're adjusted a little better, but it's like both left and right have identical beam shape which strikes me as unusual. Am I wrong to think there would normally be something on the left side that shapes the beam differently?

Pics of left only:

Further adjusted now:

Maybe better, but probably both sides need to come down by a foot or so.
My phone camera is naff, it doesn't look quite as bright in real life.

I've sent the ebay seller a message. I'm not happy with the pattern. I guess if I can't get it right, I'd have to return them.

I don't know if this may be worth checking but I had a problem with really weird main beam pattern and it turned out to be a cracked H15 bulb holder/collar possibly from some walloping of driveshaft end by the mechanic a little while before. I managed to glue the piece back in in the right spot and it's sorted the wonky beam.

I've not taken them out on the road, yet. I will do that probably Monday evening to see how they look. I guess it's fair to say that super close to the garage looks terrible, but further away less so, maybe on a road they could be fine? Pipe dreams maybe.

Thankyou both for the replies, it's appreciated to confirm that im not alone in thinking this isn't right.

Whilst I am reluctant to get the bumper off again to take them off the van, I want to get it right.
I had bought these so the van is road legal instead of buying the led bulbs in H4 stock headlights. I don't think I have achieved it with these sets, so I'm £450 down for no reason.

I am as I said unsure if these are transporter hq headlights or not, they look identical as far as I can see, but could be clones at same price?

It would be nice to see someone with transporter hq ver 3 lights, so I could see that beam pattern.
