Front Doors hinge rollers

Hi - on the front doors of my T6 kombi the small nylon wheels worn away on the hinges. The ones than bump into place to semi-lock the door as you open and close them.

VW are telling me that the whole roller units need to be replaced at a cost of about £320 each.

Does anyone know if just the wheels could be replaced or if this is really the only option?

Thanks.

Ade

its the whole unit,

you can buy cheaper elsewhere, but they come unpainted, so if you want to paint. . . . then fitting.

Can these be replaced as the hinge is fine. The nylon bushes have become worn hence noisy when open/close the passenger door.

Sadly mine got worse when I did that and having taken the plastic cap off I can see the nylon bush is worn out.

Seems stupid you can’t replace the bush rather than the whole hinge. Waste of money and metal.

Absolutely is. Considering the bush is the part most susceptible to degradation, you’d think that’d be easier to get hold of than the whole mechanism

Yeah agreed, must be a way to get hold of a nylon bush rather than replace the whole unit. Someone must do the same size bush somewhere, most likely not VW though.

What holds the bush on? Is there a circlip or similar that could be removed, or is it just the end of the rod peened over?

Not sure but I will give it a clean and take further images.
