Four wheel alignment

Hi all,

I've had my van four wheel aligned, I have since found out that the wheel needs taking off to check for what might be a stone caught between the break disk and metal guard. Anyway, spoke to the garage and they weren't sure if the four wheel alignment will need doing again, to be fair, the mechanics weren't around and its something they'll know today.

I thought if anyone would know it would be the people on this forum.

As Loz says, nope it defo won't need doing unless in taking the wheel off the garage decide to unbolt the entire front end!

I've got bloody outer edge wear on the front tyres again (on 6.5k miles) - same as our last Cali.
I can either get it sorted or bin the slightly cack tyres and put some decent All Weathers on. And get it aligned.

VW: MAYBE CONSIDER FACTORY WHEEL ALIGNMENT ON YOUR £50-60k VANS?!!

All fwd vehicles scrub tyres, also if loaded up, back end down, such as with bike racks etc.. The front goes up and the tyres droop inwards at the bottom, so giving accelerated wear to the outside edge..

Same will apply with awd, especially if loaded up and fair mileage done that way.. Then afterwards the tyre will naturally tend to wear that area afterwards.. Wich is why tracking will not cure uneven tyre wear, merely improve it, until it has been done on new tyres.

I'm at 17k on mine, and no sign of uneven wear. The Nokians have still got 6mm of tread left, and there is very little difference between the front and rear which surprises me

Just thought I'd add a little more to this thread.
I have lowered my T30 150 DSG Kombi 40mm using Cobra springs.
As with the advise on this forum, today I had a Hunter four wheel alignment done.
Interestingly, castor, camber and toe were all spot on on the front but the steering wheel was not perfectly straight so track rod adjustments were made to correct it.
What surprised me more was how far out the toe was on both rear wheels.
I is really cool watching the pointer on the computer display come into range as the technition turns the rear toe adjustment bolt.
I was slightly surprised that the front didn't need any adjustment, and maybe VW set the wheel geometry to sit correctly with the suspension lower as it would be when loaded. ( it is a van after all ).

Which model Nokians do you have on? I have just over 10k on my Hankook and there are worn down to the wear bar..
