Hello!

So i have found a company who may well do a scan of my non comfort dash for free as a thanks for doing lots of orders through them for work (result if it works).

If this comes through and i can move on with my design for a top lid then i'll be a happy chap.

question for all you serious modders and diyers @Fish @Deaky @andys to name but a few - im looking for some small hinges, ideally sprung - where would you look for an item like that?
im also after a closing latch like a push push, this i can find as we used them for work once and i know someone - the hinges i cant seem to get my hands on.

my other option, but is a tricky one to say the least is to order the complete assembly of the dash top lid from vw (found it online) and then dremel my standard dash and lower in the whole assembly...im not so keen on this as fixing it becomes tricky..

or i go the whole hog and change the dash - but my wife would kill me!

any help much appreciated guys, cheers.

How about trying the spring hinges from a spectacle/glasses box.

I must admit for stuff like that I tend to trawl ebay. But I'm also a bit of a magpie and will often pile stuff away if I think it may be of use one day. And I don't throw anything away without seeing if there are any bits I may be able to use, particularly broken printers and small machinery being binned at work (printers a great source of die-straight steel bars of various sizes. I intend to spend some of my time when I retire in a few years just making stuff out of crap.

ok thanks guys, i will have a look! @andys yes indeed i have a bunch of similar stuff!

would just like to have sth that i can model in solidworks to have a complete working assy.. if this works then i'll send the files on so that others can have a top lid too.

being LHD im gutted that the van x glovebox that tons of you have used wont work for me... :-( So im going to try to do a top lid..
