Fogstar 230ah seat base battery set up help

there is so much information on here and I’m getting a tad confused.

I’ve bought a Fogstar 230ah seat base battery and not looking to have solar at this stage. This being said I’m looking for a dc to dc charger and a 240 hook up charger. I’ve seen the below kit and think this would work well but debating upgrading to the 50a dc to dc charger also. What are peoples thoughts ? Will this work, is it worth upgrading and am I overlooking something ?

I have a FS 230sb.

And user the victron 50A XS dcdc charger, but run it at 30A.

And fun a 30A EHU charger,, also run solar.

Plan will be to run solar in the future but want to find out how I use the van first. Either long weekends or weeks at a time as I’m not sure yet

You may not want that kit. You’d need to check to be sure but it looks to me like the older version of the orion DC-DC which was a rare miss from Victron - it was much lower efficiency than almost any other DC-DC out there and so ran extremely hot.

Any reason why you would run a 50a at 30 and not buy a lower amp charger in the first place ?

Not sure how I can tell the older version compared to the newer one ?

Otherwise does the kit look suitable for what I’m trying to achieve ?

Headroom, just like you wouldn't drive flat out everywhere just because your car had a shed load of power.
I've possibly got the same B2B/MPPT unit, a Renogy DCC50S and all you need then is a mains to lithium charger and possibly an Able Mail trickle charger from your leisure back to your starter battery... that's if you camp with the doors open, car radio or sidelights on... it happens. 🤕

The victron Orion Tr smart 30A is only rated at 87% efficiency - This could mean best part of 50W lost as heat. You want to look at the Victron Orion XS is rated at upto 98.5% efficiency - it runs much cooler. (Its 1.5% inefficient vs 13% inefficient)

So the below kit would be a lot better option ?

Those kits look fine in general. Make sure you actually need/want all that stuff that comes with it though. You could undoubtedly do it cheaper if you just order exactly what you’ll actually need based on your specific use case and layout.

You could use that schematic and price yourself up the main items as the wiring links supplied can only be a guess at the ideal layout in your van.
Again a Renogy DCC50S at the same price as that Orion will include an MPPT as well as B2B so you only have to add solar panels and you're off grid.
Not saying £780 is a rip off but part of the fun of speccing your own leisure electrics is the bargain hunting and going large on everything... obviously there is a limit and @Dellmassive or @Drive Wayne are a salutary lesson in ultimate power corrupting.
