Fog light removal coding

I have a T5.1 Caravelle and have facelifted the car to T6. I’ve opted to lose the front fog lights as I prefer the look and didn’t want to change the windscreen washer reservoir.

I now have 03428 and 03429 errors as the fogs aren’t plugged in. I’ve tried long coding them out but can’t get it to play ball! Does anyone have any pointers or examples of coding? TIA

Just use some resistors to replace the lights and cable tie them out of the way if the coding won't accept. I'm surprised it won't tho'. I did a fog light function delete on my Amarok as I rewired them to work as addition high beam lights. I simply unticked 'front fog lights installed' in central electrics.

Have you changed the headlight switch too?

Thanks for the insight, I’ve not changed the switch. Will that be an issue? I’ll stick a multimeter on my old fogs and try and match that with a resistor.

You don't have to change the switch, I just did it so that it looked right. There are not many Auto light switches without the front fog light setting. From memory, I used one from a Golf Mk6 R.

Won’t the resistor get hot if the fogs are turned on though? If you turn the rear fog on, the front fogs (resistors) will be on?

I can't see it being any different to the resistors that come with LED replacement bulbs. The original bulbs get hot too, but I guess they are cooled by airflow.

What coding have you tried? My t6.1 does not have front fogs so I could check the coding on mine as a comparison.

Couldn't you have just spray painted the fog lamp glass from an aerosol? Then no light no fault and no need to code. Then if you changed your mind, just remove the paint from the fog lamp glass.

The T6 fogs don’t fit with the T5.1 windscreen wash fluid reservoir and I prefer the look without so I didn’t fit them.

You are not missing very much! I used to have a set of Cibie Super Oscar Fog Lamps mounted a little higher not on this vehicle and they where very good and everything following those always felt very shady and dim with poor range. I think most fogs today are just for appearances only or am after thought.
