Fitting new Springs on T6 4Motion rear

Hi Guys,

Is there an easy way to remove/install the rear springs on a T6 4Motion?

I battled for a good while with mine and about to install springs on a friends van. I unbolted the shock absorber, undid the sway bar.... the drive shaft prevents the axle from dropping far enough to easily get it out....

Did you unbolt the rear anti-roll bar?

I just did mine on a T32, I did indeed unbold the sway bar from underneath the swing arms at both ends. Then I used a clamping tool (the type you can swap inside out and use as a spreader) to put a little pressure on the swingarm (don't use to much force otherwise you may damage the the CV joints in the axle). rotating the spring while still in there will also give you some extra space. It took quite some fiddling but I managed to get them out this way. Mind you I had the disc and disc guard plates removed so that possibly gave me some extra space to move the pring out of the way. (I guess the only other way is lowering the 4motion diff/box at bit, but I'm far from an expert on this..)

Yeah I followed a similar idea with a scissor jack when I did mine.

Has anyone dropped the diff? Any tips on doing this?

I forgot to mention that I also put a (small/simple) ratchet strap over the coil/spring to shorting it a bit as well. (and maybe good to know that SWB springs are a bit shorter than the LWB versions)

You need to loosen hub nuts so driveshaft can push in as far as possible as trailing arm lowers. Arb bushes don't really need undone
