Good Morning, I want to fit a Forty Winks bed in my SWB T6.1 Panel Van but upon further investigation, it does not appear to have any fixing nuts above the wheel arch? Does anyone have experience of this and what is the solution please?

Any pictures? Have you got carpet over it? They are usually where 1 o'clock is if that makes sense if your arch was a clock.

Hi @AYRGUNN, thanks for replying. I have no carpet yet and I know where the holes are and they are definitely there at aroun1 o'clock, just no nuts on the back side :(

Sorry mines just a 6 not the 6.1. Anyone installed a 40Winks to their 6.1? Pictures from T6

I don’t think it’s a T6.1 issue, I assume it’s a panel van issue and VW just didn’t fit the plate/nut on the back of the panel. Much like the one for the safety belts for the Kombi seats.

This is same idea but does not need the seatbelt holes, hope it helps

I’d speak with Ryan at forty winks I purchased mine from him in January and he was the most helpful of chaps he maybe able to help

Hi, what was your solution for this?

I have the same situation that there is no threaded bolt inside the wheel arch hole.

Cheers

Hi @gmoxham31, I ended up getting a couple of the seat belt plates that you would use for the kombi belts, and placing them at the back of the existing hole and rivet through from the front; they worked perfectly.

Hi, I had the same problem, no thread in the seat belt anchor points. Ryan at FortyWinks has a very simple solution. Small metal plates with nuts welded on, uses a 3M adhesive pad, no welding or rivets. Sorted very quickly.

Hey Chris,

I have the exact safe issue. My plates are arriving from Ryan at Forty Winks tomorrow. How easy/hard is it to get behind the wheel arch? Did you have to take anything off internally?

Morning all.

Just wondering how to access the rear of seat belt anchor hole as well? Can you get to it from in the van or do you have to go up through the wheel arch?

Hi, you access the rear by removing the internal panel above the wheel arch.

Thank you for the reply.

Is there enough room to get a small pair of mole grips in?

I have put a rivnut in for the bed but it went in wonky so trying to drill it out and do a new one.

Thanks again

I’d have thought so yes. There is quite a lot of space back there.
Brilliant thanks.

Just to check, when you say remove panel, I assume removing the carpeted panel in the pic (marked x) then cutting through the carpet which covers the original panel spaces should give me access to the rear or the wheel arch where I need to get to?

Thanks very much for the help so far. IMG_2520.webp

I’d be surprised if it’s carpeted behind that panel but if it is then yes you’ll need to cut into it to allow access.

Found this image via Google and thought it might be useful for you.
